I offer my services as a consultant and mentor to independent inventors to help them evaluate the potential of
their idea, minimize their investment, avoid common pitfalls, develop and protect their idea in a logical
step-wise manner, and finally show them how to secure a lucrative licensing deal.
In my experience, the three fundamental failures of inventors are:
1. Lack of information
2. Lack of objectivity
3. Failure to present yourself as an informed professional
1. Lack of information
The most common reason inventors fail is because they aren't aware of the most basic principles of invention
development. PGL (paranoid, greed and laziness) Syndrome afflict many, fraudulent invention promotion
companies take their toll, but the real hurdle is that product development is a complicated process and
requires a working knowledge of multiple disciplines as well as an ability to integrate these elements in
a coordinated fashion. An invention consultant can help you ask the right questions, in the right order,
and steer you around the many pitfalls that lie ahead.

2. Lack of objectivity
You MUST believe in your idea's potential -- it is an absolute requirement for its success. However, that
same belief in your idea can also blind you to important information, especially when your expectations or
beliefs are challenged. A consultant can help you maintain your objectivity, accurately assess your
alternatives and help you decide upon the best course of action.

3. Failure to present yourself as an informed professional
Potential licensees (companies you want to license your invention) will often avoid dealing with individual
inventors because, as a group, we are viewed as unprofessional, unreasonable and potential liabilities.
Presenting yourself as an informed professional will allay their concerns, facilitate a positive working
relationship, and also discourage them from taking advantage of your inexperience. As a consultant I can show
you how to speak their language, anticipate their concerns, and help put together licensing deal that is fair
to both parties.
